The prince and Crystalline

Once there was a young prince of noble virtue. His father had a large Kingdom. His lovely and innocent face attracted by all. Everybody loved him. In the 15th birthday of the prince the King called a grand feast in his palace. Every land-lord of that Kingdom was invited with his family to the feast. The feast became crowd slowly. Suddenly, a horse-drawn carriage stopped in front of the palace. An old man got down from the carriage. After a few minutes a beautiful young lady was seen to get down from the carriage.  When she was getting down slowly it seemed that a blue stream flew down from a hill. When the land found her legs the whole lighted area became dull beside her beauty but also bright because of her beauty. She entered the palace and was followed by the prince’s eyes without a twinkle. After a few minutes he went near her and talked some to know each other. The prince knew that she was the daughter of lord Borsiso and her name was Crystalline. In a rest of their talking the young lady strangely said that she was also twenty-two years old in that day.

After passing a long period in talking the prince said to Crystalline, “Can we not be close friends?” The beauty said, “Of course, we can.” Then she was hanging a little smile in her mouth. The prince said, “All right. I know that a close friend can read the eyes of his another friend.” Then Crystalline said to the prince, “Yes, it is true and I can read your eyes. Keep your eyes on mine and see the reply.”  The prince said, “Oh! Lady, Don’t tell me to see your eyes. When it happens I forget all and only know to see.” Then the prince again said, “I have fallen into love with you at first sight. I want to be more close than a close friend with you.” The beauty said, “Prince, you are younger and also emotional. When you will be adult, I shall understand your love for me. You should wait for that time.” This was the last talk between the prince and Crystalline. In the end of the feast Crystalline went away making herself the Queen of the prince’s dreamland.

Three years were past. In that long time the lovers kept their relation by letters. Suddenly, the prince’s old father died. The prince became the King of the Kingdom. In the chance of the weakness of the young prince a King from another Kingdom attacked the prince and was able to win. The prince fled away to his lover’s house. His mind could not find better than it in that fateful day. Faithful Borsiso and his daughter tried to save the prince from any evil power. But Borsiso was killed. The prince and Crystalline was taken to the prison. But after seeing Crystalline, the King’s son felt in love with her. He wanted to marry her. The King also wanted a beautiful and high-born daughter-in-law like Crystalline for her son. But Crystalline neglected his proposal with bear. At last the King reached to a decision which was that: If anyone was able to defeat his son by fight of sword, he would won that great beauty. The King always thought that his son was a great hero and nobody could defeat him. It was true that his son was considered to be a great hero in that time.

On the other side a sad news was waiting for the king that the prince fled away from the jail. But the news could not make the King anxious because of his business for the sword-play. In the fixed day the play started. Then Crystalline sat in front of the battle-field. Then she was seemed a river which became dry and lost her usual current.

Many princes and men were present there to win Crystalline. Some were killed by the King’s son, Rodham. Some changed their mind and went away. At the last moment there was seen a handsome young man in the battlefield to fight with Rodham. But no one could know that the man was the prince in disguise. In the field the two fighters stood face to face. Each fighter drew his sword. The two swordsmen were trying to win. After passing a long time in fighting the two fighters attacked hardly to each other. Rodham’s sword cut the prince’s hand very little. But the prince’s sword pierced his opponent’s heart and he died. The King could not tolerate his son’s death in front of his sight. He ordered with blood-shot eyes to his soldiers to arrest the disguised prince. But his eyes were not more ferocious than his injustice order. However, the prince was put in irons and Crystalline was again converted to a captive. After receiving the great shock of his son’s death the King paid attention to his state affairs. He knew that a rebellion began in a part of the state. The King though that it was occurred by the absconder prince. But the King’s think was quiet false. It was caused by his unjust administration. The evil King declared a notice that the man who brought the prince dead or alive he would be the husband of the captive fairy. But the King became hopeless when he heard that nobody could find the absconder prince. But soon a smile was appeared in his mouth when he knew that the prisoner who killed his son in the sword-play could give the news of the prince. The prisoner was presented in front of the King. He said to the King, “The lady who was ironed in your palace was the prince’s lover. So, you did wisely by keeping the lady ironed in your palace.” The prince came out from disguise and then said again, “Oh! King I have brought the unfortunate prince in front of you. Now I want Crystalline. She is my heart. Let my heart free. Instead of that I will give my life. Arrest me and then kill. But keep your promise.” The evil King wanted to play another game. He said, “Listen young lover. Your love may be great. But I am very confused of your love. If you can bring a red rose from the garden, which is beside the palace then I shall understand that, you can do everything for your lover, your love is really great and also pure as a rose. But remember, this work is very hard.” The prince was ready for any adventure for his lover. Even he was ready to sacrifice his life for his love. So, the prince agreed with this proposal. He went to the garden. In the garden he rummaged for a red rose. But he could not find even a rose. In one corner he could find a rose. But the rose was as white as snow. The prince became more strange when he saw so many pythons under that rose-plant. Then the prince understood that why the King sent him to pluck a red rose. But the prince could not find another way to prove his love and to win Crystalline. For the sake of his lover he took the risk of his life and was going slowly near the rose. In the meantime Crystalline was appeared in the window with tears in her eyes. When he saw her he forgot the pythons and held the rose quickly. His eyes were yet on the window. However, he plucked the rose came from that spot. It was very strange that the pythons did not do any harm to him. But after plucking the rose prince had to fall in another problem that the rose was not red. After thinking a minute about this matter the intelligent prince reach to a decision. He cut his hand by a long thorn of the rose and made the rose red by his blood of his hand. Soon he came to the King with his rose and the victory of his love. But the King could not believe that. He angrily shouted and wanted to know that how it could be possible for him. Then the prince said, “It can be possible for only love. Perhaps love has no colour to see. To see the real love, you will have to redden it by your blood, even your life. To enjoy the real taste of love you will have to sacrifice some of your life.” After this word the King saw the prince for a while and then said, “Oh! Young lover, your are the real hero, I am the villain. You are not the hero to kill the villain but to win your lover from the villain. The villain was killed beside your great love but not by you. Take away your Crystalline with your Kingdom. Now, you are the King of this Kingdom. Let me return.”

Afterwards the prince became the King of his father’s Kingdom. Then he married Crystalline in the day which was the 22nd birthday of the prince and 29th birthday of Crystalline. In the bride chamber Crystalline said to her husband, “Can you remember our first meeting in the feast? In that day, we were playing a little play to each other. We could understand that we were falling in love with each other. But we tried to hide our love for each. But we failed to continue our play.” Then the prince drew a kiss on her forehead and then said, “Yes I can remember. I will remember those nice days forever. Because our love is obtained by struggle. There is joy in love. But there is more joy to win love.”
